Carpet Stretching

Carpet Stretching in Mukilteo & Everett, WA

A power stretcher and a knee kicker take the slack out of a room in one visit, and every stretch we do is backed for life.

The tool most quotes skip is the reason ours holds

A knee kicker can push carpet a few inches at a time, which is fine for a doorway but not for a room. A power stretcher grips the carpet across its full width and pulls it taut from wall to wall, then we re-secure it to the tack strips at the perimeter. That's the difference between a stretch that lasts and one that ripples again within a year. We work at roughly 300 sq ft an hour, and most rooms are done in two to three hours.

What causes carpet to go slack in the first place

Humidity off the Sound moves the backing, foundations settle a little every year, and tack strips wear down or pull loose at the wall. Poor original installation makes all three worse, because carpet that was never stretched properly starts working itself loose from the day it goes down.

Every stretch we do carries a lifetime guarantee, not a one-year policy dressed up as one. Call (425) 329-5162.

What’s included, and what honestly isn’t

A stretch fixes carpet that has gone loose. It does not clean the carpet, replace the pad underneath it, or close a seam that has started to separate. If your floor needs one of those as well, we’ll say so on the visit rather than stretch over a problem that will just show up again.

This is the same wrinkle most homeowners describe as “the carpet coming up.” It isn’t wear and it isn’t damage. It’s slack, and a power stretcher removes it without touching the fibres or the backing. The carpet you had is the carpet you keep, just pulled tight to the wall the way it should have been the first time.

Stretching questions, answered straight

Most rooms take two to three hours with a power stretcher and a knee kicker. We work at roughly 300 sq ft an hour, so a typical living room is a single visit, start to finish.

Humidity off Puget Sound moves the backing, foundations settle, tack strips wear down at the walls, and some carpet was never installed under the right tension to begin with. Usually it's two or three of those at once.

No. Stretching re-secures the carpet you already have to the tack strips at the wall. Cleaning, pad replacement and seam repair are separate services, and we'll tell you plainly if your floor needs one of those instead of, or in addition to, a stretch.

Ten years or more when it's done with a real power stretcher. Carpet quality, foot traffic and humidity all move that number, but the usual reason a stretch fails early is that it was done with a knee kicker alone, which can't generate the same tension.

Furniture needs to be at least five feet off the walls so we can reach the perimeter. We'll move the heavy pieces for a fee, using Teflon sliders so nothing gets dragged or scratched, but we don't dismantle furniture.

A stretch that's guaranteed for as long as you own the carpet
